Ontario Provides More Money for Public Transit in York Region

The Ontario government is providing more money to support the expansion and improvement of public transit services in York Region. The funding is part of the province’s gas tax program which will allocate more than $379.5 million to help 107 municipalities operate and improve local transit.

The Ontario government is investing in its seniors in Thornhill by funding projects that will help seniors stay safe, fit, active, healthy and socially connected across the community with Seniors Community Grants. Recently, MPP Laura Smith paid a visit to Navillera Korean Dance Company, who received $24,000 to continue to offer 16-week Korean Traditional Dance workshops for seniors in the Vaughan area.

$249,700 grant enabled the Tirgan Centre for Art and Culture to Continue Moving Forward  

On Friday, MPP Laura Smith and MPP Michael Parsa stopped in at the Tirgan Centre for Art and Culture to hear how a $249,700 Community Building Fund grant that was awarded in late 2021 helped the Centre with needed operational costs over the last year. The grant which has now concluded, was awarded by the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

York University Markham Campus Topping Off Ceremony

It was a pleasure to attend the official York University Markham campus topping off ceremony today alongside my colleagues Minister Jill Dunlop, MPP Billy Pang, and MPP Logan Kanapathi.
