Public Health Gets a Boost in York Region Through Provincial Funding
THORNHILL – York Region will see increased access to efficient Public Health Services through the Ontario government’s plan to support public health across the province. The York Region Public Health Unit is receiving $1,317,300 to support public health programs and services in York Region for the 2025/2026 year. This funding will support a range of public health initiatives and service delivery priorities.
“Our government is continuing to take decisive action to further protect Ontario’s world-class health-care system,” said Laura Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill. “This funding will help ensure that the Public Health Unit here in York Region and 28 other units across Ontario have the resources they need to continue serving our communities effectively.”
This investment is part of the Ontario government’s $60.09 million allotment in one-time funding to 29 Public Health Units across the province. The province remains committed to ensuring Ontarians have access to quality and efficient public health resources and services.
