A Plan to Protect Ontario

Today, Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy released the 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario. In the midst of tariffs and economic uncertainty, the government continues to deliver on its plan to protect Ontario by building the most competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the G7, including through significant tax relief contained in the next phase of Ontario’s Tax Action Plan. The 2026 Budget furthers the government’s plan to attract jobs and investment, lower costs for workers and businesses, keep life affordable for families and individuals and make targeted investments in key public services that support the province’s long-term prosperity.

Ontario Connecting More Families to Fertility Supports in Thornhill 

The Ontario government is taking action to help more families access fertility treatments by investing $250 million to expand access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) under the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP). As part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by improving public services, the funding will support 25 clinics, including six new IVF clinics, to shorten waitlists for fertility services in both hospital and community settings.

Province Introducing Legislation to Protect Ontario by Building a More Competitive Economy

Today, the Ontario government introduced the Building a More Competitive Economy Act and related initiatives that would, if passed, protect and strengthen the province’s economy by streamlining regulatory processes, championing local businesses, advancing labour mobility and increasing competitiveness. These measures will help build a resilient and self-sustaining economy that can withstand disruption and thrive in a rapidly changing world, while making Ontario the best place in the G7 to invest, do business and create jobs.

Ontario Connecting 500,000 More People to a Family Doctor and Primary Care Team

Today, the Ontario government launched the next call for proposals to create and expand approximately 75 primary care teams that will connect 500,000 more people to a primary care clinician. This over $250 million investment is part of the government’s $2.1 billion Primary Care Action Plan and brings the province one step closer to connecting everyone in Ontario to convenient primary care by 2029.

Ontario Investing $260 Million to Protect and Train Workers

The Ontario government is continuing to deliver on its plan to protect workers by launching the sixth round of the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream. This round will provide $260 million for innovative projects that support the hiring, training and upskilling of workers in manufacturing, health care, construction, automotive and other skilled trades. This investment is part of the government’s $2.5 billion investment through SDF to protect Ontario workers by giving them the tools they need to land rewarding, good-paying jobs, while keeping Ontario competitive in the face of U.S. tariffs and global economic uncertainty.

Ontario and Alberta Working Together to Build New Energy and Trade Infrastructure

Today, Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) to support Canadian workers by building new pipelines, rail lines and other energy and trade infrastructure that will diversify Canada’s trading partners by unlocking new markets for Ontario’s critical minerals and Western Canada’s oil and gas.
