Forget about talking, Let’s Make Music!

THORNHILL: On Wednesday evening, local MPP Laura Smith and Mayor David West were at the Plaza Suite at the Richmond Hill Centre for Performing Arts as High Notes Avante showcased it’s “Let’s Make Music!” program. MPP Smith also took the opportunity to formally congratulate the group on receiving a $78,800 Seed grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) last fall.

The Food Bank of York Region Acquires New Refrigerated Truck with $150,000 Grant

On Monday, MPP Laura Smith met with representatives from the Food Bank of York Region (FBYR) to see the results of a $150,000 Capital grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). Awarded in the fall of 2023, the Food Bank has been able to add to purchase a new 2025 Hino L8 refrigerated truck that will add to its fleet of trucks that are fighting food insecurity with every delivery made.

Ontario Government Supporting Non-Profit Organizations in Thornhill

The Ontario government is providing Kayla’s Children Centre in Thornhill $200,000 in funding this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation's (OTF) Capital grant stream to make it easier for young adults with disabilities to access the critical programming, activities and spaces that enable them to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for DANI Clark Campus’ Newly Expanded Accessible Catering Kitchen

On Wednesday, MPP Laura Smith and Nalin De Silva, an Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) volunteer were at the Clark Avenue Campus for DANI (Developing and Nurturing Independence). Last year, DANI received a $96,000 Capital grant from OTF to help it renovate their social-enterprise kitchen to help it continue to meet the growing training/employment needs of the neuro-diverse community.

$249,700 grant enabled the Tirgan Centre for Art and Culture to Continue Moving Forward  

On Friday, MPP Laura Smith and MPP Michael Parsa stopped in at the Tirgan Centre for Art and Culture to hear how a $249,700 Community Building Fund grant that was awarded in late 2021 helped the Centre with needed operational costs over the last year. The grant which has now concluded, was awarded by the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

MPP Laura Smith announces $150,000 OTF grant for Reena as it celebrates its 50th Anniversary 

On Wednesday, MPP Laura Smith and MPP Stephen Lecce congratulated the team at Reena on the Capital grant it received from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to improve its HVAC systems in the buildings that host its community participation programs for persons with developmental disabilities. The news of the grant came on the day that Reena marked its 50th Anniversary in the community.
