Ontario Investing in Vaughan Pizza Festival X 

Ontario is investing $55,000 through the 2026 Experience Ontario program to support Vaughan Pizza Festival X - Tenth Anniversary. This is part of a more than $20 million government investment to help municipalities and event organizers deliver high-quality programming and experiences for people of all ages. 

MPP Laura Smith and MPP Stephen Lecce announce $57,640 for Reena’s Seniors Active Living Centre in Vaughan

“This Seniors month, I’m excited to share that through this year’s funding allocation, we are continuing to support the incredible seniors in our community,” said Laura Smith, MPP for Thornhill. “Our government remains committed to ensuring seniors have access to the facilities and programs they need to stay active, healthy, and connected. Seniors Active Living Centres play an important role in supporting physical well-being, reducing isolation, and creating opportunities for older adults to remain engaged in their communities.”

The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $5,264,923 by Letar Inc., a tier 1 manufacturer of aircraft and telecom components in the aerospace and defence sector, to expand their operations and create 19 new, good-paying jobs in Thornhill.

MPP Laura Smith & MPP Stephen Lecce Recognize Ontario Government Investment to Upgrade Schwartz/Reisman Centre in Maple

On Sunday, Laura Smith, MPP for Thornhill and Stephen Lecce, MPP for King—Vaughan announced that renovations for accessibility upgrades at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre (SRC) Fitness Centre are now complete. The upgrades were made possible by a $162,000 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) that was awarded last summer to create an accessible fitness space for individuals with mobility challenges. MPP Smith joined MPP Lecce at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre's annual Purim Palooza event, the largest in the Toronto area, to recognize this investment from the Ontario Government with local families. 

Ontario Supports Kayla’s Children Centre in Thornhill with $600,000

The Ontario government is providing Kayla’s Children Centre (KCC) with $600,000 in funding over the next three years to expand programming, enabling teens of all abilities to develop skills that optimize their future independence and success as adults. The funding is being provided through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Grow grant stream.

MPP Laura Smith announces a new Seniors Active Living Centre in Thornhill

MPP Laura Smith announced the new Reena Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) in Thornhill. This is one of the up to 100 new SALC programs opening across the province this year to help improve seniors’ quality of life and build community engagement. Reena is receiving $55,000 from the Ontario government to support their Seniors Active Living Centre.

Ontario Invests $20,000 to Support Vaughan Pizza and Stuffed Food Festival 

Ontario is investing $20,000 through the 2025 Experience Ontario program to support the Vaughan Pizza and Stuffed Food Festival. This is part of a nearly $20 million investment in festivals and events across Ontario to help organizers expand programming and draw visitors to stay longer in local accommodations, eat in restaurants, shop at local retailers and support main street businesses. The announcement was made by the Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill, Laura Smith. 

$68,000 and $53,900 Ontario Trillium Foundation Grants Support Office Renovation and Service Innovation at JIAS Toronto

On Monday, June 16th, 2025 Thornhill MPP Laura Smith visited JIAS Toronto to learn more about how the organization is benefiting from two grants from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF): a $68,000 Capital Grant and a $53,900 Seed Grant. These grants are helping JIAS enhance its physical space and streamline its internal operations to better serve immigrants and refugees across the GTA.
