A Plan to Protect Ontario

Today, Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy released the 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario. In the midst of tariffs and economic uncertainty, the government continues to deliver on its plan to protect Ontario by building the most competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the G7, including through significant tax relief contained in the next phase of Ontario’s Tax Action Plan. The 2026 Budget furthers the government’s plan to attract jobs and investment, lower costs for workers and businesses, keep life affordable for families and individuals and make targeted investments in key public services that support the province’s long-term prosperity.

Ontario Launching Classroom Supplies Fund to Support Elementary School Teachers and Students

The Ontario government is launching the Classroom Supplies Fund to provide elementary school homeroom teachers with direct access to $750 in funding each school year for classroom supplies. The new fund, which will be launched as part of the province’s 2026 budget, will ensure teachers have the materials they need in their classrooms without paying up front and is part of the government’s ongoing work to ensure the provincial education system is supporting student success and helping them reach their full potential.

The Ontario government is preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow by investing $242 million to upgrade learning facilities at publicly funded colleges and universities across the province. As part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario, this investment will strengthen the province’s pipeline of highly skilled workers by ensuring students have access to the latest equipment and state-of-the-art learning spaces to learn the skills they need for good-paying jobs after graduation.

HAMILTON — In order to protect and strengthen Ontario’s current and future workforce, the Ontario government is investing $750 million to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs at colleges and universities across the province.
