Ontario and Webequie First Nation Break Ground on Ring of Fire Road

Today, Premier Doug Ford, Webequie First Nation Chief Lorraine Whitehead, Greg Rickford, Minister of Indigenous Affairs and First Nations Economic Reconciliation and Minister Responsible for Ring of Fire Economic and Community Partnerships, Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation, and Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines, celebrated the start of construction on the Webequie Supply Road, a historic milestone in the government’s plan to protect Ontario by building the roads to the Ring of Fire, five years ahead of schedule.

Ontario Launches Fortress North America Plan

Today, Premier Doug Ford is concluding a mission to Washington, D.C. after unveiling Ontario’s renewed plan for Building Fortress North America by reaching a fair free trade agreement that will create more jobs, lower costs and strengthen North American security. Over two days, Premier Ford is leading an Ontario delegation that is meeting with United States senators and members of Congress, as well as business executives from critical industries including the automotive, aerospace and agricultural sectors.

Ontario Welcomes Over $5.2M Manufacturing Investment in Thornhill

The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $5,264,923 by Letar Inc., a tier 1 manufacturer of aircraft and telecom components in the aerospace and defence sector, to expand their operations and create 19 new, good-paying jobs in Thornhill.  

Ontario Welcomes $294 Million Investment in the Life Sciences Sector

The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $294 million from Sanofi, a global biopharmaceutical company, to expand its Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI CoE) in Toronto. Building on a strong foundation of more than 150 employees, the expansion of Sanofi’s AI CoE will leverage the province’s skilled workforce to create 50 new good-paying jobs while reinforcing Ontario’s position as a global leader in life sciences and artificial intelligence (AI).

Ontario Welcomes Over $3M Manufacturing Investment in Thornhill

The Ontario government is welcoming an investment of $3,095,294 by Petra, a distributor and manufacturer of personal care and household cleaning products, to significantly increase their production capacity and create 16 new good-paying jobs in Thornhill.  

A Plan to Protect Ontario

Today, Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy released the 2026 Ontario Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario. In the midst of tariffs and economic uncertainty, the government continues to deliver on its plan to protect Ontario by building the most competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the G7, including through significant tax relief contained in the next phase of Ontario’s Tax Action Plan. The 2026 Budget furthers the government’s plan to attract jobs and investment, lower costs for workers and businesses, keep life affordable for families and individuals and make targeted investments in key public services that support the province’s long-term prosperity.

Ontario Expanding Billy Bishop Airport

The Ontario government is supporting the long-term modernization and expansion of Billy Bishop Airport by moving to take over the City of Toronto’s place in the tripartite agreement that governs the airport, as well as take ownership of the city-owned lands in the airport in exchange for fair compensation.

Ontario Welcomes Massilly North America’s $85 Million Manufacturing Investment

The Ontario government has secured an investment of $85 million from Massilly North America Inc. (Massilly), a leading manufacturer of metal packaging solutions, to establish a new state-of-the-art facility that will produce cans for food packaging. Massilly’s investment will sustain 228 existing jobs and create 50 new, good-paying manufacturing jobs, while bringing new production lines back to Ontario that will reshore critical supply chains and remove reliance on imported steel packaging, marking an important milestone for the Canadian food industry to bolster its self-reliance in the face of global uncertainty.

Ontario Continuing to Protect Workers and Unlock Free Trade Within Canada in 2026

As part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario and strengthen its economic resilience, on January 1, the province is bringing into force historic labour mobility and free-trade regulations that break down interprovincial barriers for workers and businesses and help employers access the skilled Canadian workers they need sooner. These historic changes are part of the government’s plan to support Ontario and Canadian workers and build a unified Canadian workforce that can stand up to U.S. tariffs and economic uncertainty.

Ontario Greenlights Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment to Create Nearly 37,000 Jobs

Today, Minister Stephen Lecce announced the Ontario government has approved Ontario Power Generation’s (OPG) plan to refurbish four CANDU nuclear reactors at the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station. To support the government’s plan to protect Ontario workers and the province’s long-term energy security, the refurbishment will extend the facility’s operations to deliver affordable, reliable and clean power for up to 38 years. This will allow Ontario to continue leveraging its nuclear advantage to create more export opportunities, support good-paying jobs and build a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the face of U.S. tariffs.

Today, Minister of Finance Peter Bethlenfalvy released the 2025 Ontario Economic Outlook and Fiscal Review: A Plan to Protect Ontario, which supports the government’s plan to protect Ontario by building a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy by cutting red tape, investing in infrastructure, supporting workers, improving services and making life more affordable.
