$541,500 is helping 3 local programs and services that provide critical
community programming across the province
THORNHILL — The Ontario government is providing Chabad Lubavitch of Southern
Ontario with $194,500. This is one of three non-profit organizations receiving funding in Thornhill this year through the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s (OTF) Capital grant stream. This funding will help make it easier for local residents to access the critical programming, activities and spaces that make Thornhill a great place to live, work, and play.
“Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Ontario has long enriched the lives of families in Thornhill and continues to play an important role in building and strengthening our shared cultural and spiritual life in Ontario,” said Laura Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill. “That’s why our government is proud to support them with a $194,500 Capital grant. This investment will help upgrade their cabana and pool facilities with durable, commercial-grade components, enhancing their ability to serve the community and remain a pillar of Thornhill for years to come.”
OTF’s Capital grant stream helps organizations improve their infrastructure so they can continue delivering programs and services that Ontarians need to thrive. Whether it’s purchasing equipment, building a new space or completing renovations, retrofits, or repairs, these grants support projects that are making a difference in Thornhill. These capital grants are part of the more than $28 million supporting 300 local programs and services that help deliver critical community programming across the province.
The capital program is part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by supporting workers, businesses, communities and jobs in the face of ongoing economic uncertainty, while creating a solid foundation for a strong, resilient and competitive future.
“Across Ontario, non-profit organizations are delivering critical programming that is helping people train for new careers, stay active, learn new things and connect with their community – that’s why capital grant support is so important,” said Stan Cho, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming. “Now more than ever, it is crucial we support homegrown experiences that build stronger communities, strengthen local economies, and celebrate our collective identity. This funding will help ensure facilities and spaces are accessible, modern and central to communities across our province.”
“Our community Pool & Cabana has been on “life support” for the last few years. The OTF grant will allow us to retrofit the facility and maximize the swimming schedule without interruption due to malfunction. The aquatic centre was built 38 years ago with the help of a Wintario grant! The OTF grant is a most timely gift for hundreds of patron that enjoy the pool all summer long.”
