IVF Canada Markham in Thornhill is receiving $2,129,430 in one-time funding for 2026-27 through the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP)
THORNHILL — The Ontario government is taking the next steps in its plan to expand access to fertility care as part of its historic $250 million investment to help more families access life-changing fertility treatment. Through this next phase, the province is investing $100 million in 2026/27 to support 27 clinics across Ontario, including two new in vitro fertilization (IVF) clinics, helping to shorten wait times and connect thousands of families to fertility services in both hospital and community settings.
“Every family deserves the chance to grow, and this investment will help make that possible for more families in Thornhill,” said Laura Smith, Member of Provincial Parliament for Thornhill. “This funding will expand access to fertility services, reduce wait times, and ensure more people in our community can receive the care they need, close to home.”
In 2026/27, IVF Canada Markham in Thornhill is receiving $2,129,430 in one-time funding through the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP).
“There’s no role more special or important than being a parent, which is why our government is shortening wait times by making fertility care more accessible for thousands of Ontarians,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will help more Ontarians receive publicly funded IVF services where and when they need them, while protecting the Ontario Fertility Program.”
This investment builds on the government’s initial $50 million investment in 2025/26 and will support clinics to deliver an estimated 10,000 additional IVF cycles in 2026/27. A further $100 million will be invested in 2027/28, bringing the province’s total investment to $250 million.

Through Your Health: A Plan for Connected and Convenient Care, the Ontario government is making steady progress to ensure the OFP is better equipped to meet the needs of patients and provide them with timely and high-quality fertility care where and when they need it, closer to home.
QUICK FACTS
- With the OFP expansion, the program now funds 56 Ontario clinics that provide publicly funded fertility services, including IVF, intra-uterine insemination (IUI), and fertility preservation (FP).
- Many OFP funded IVF clinics have satellite locations where patients can receive cycle monitoring, bloodwork and ultrasounds at smaller clinics closer to home.
- The province will be requiring all publicly funded fertility clinics under the OFP to be accredited by Accreditation Canada’s Qmentum Global program by April 1, 2028, ensuring consistent quality standards across the province.
- The new refundable Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit, starting in the 2025 tax year, builds on Ontario’s existing Medical Expense Tax Credit, offering further financial relief to couples and individuals in their journeys to start or grow their family. The credit provides a maximum of $5,000 in annual support by covering 25 per cent of eligible fertility-related expenses up to $20,000. These expenses, include IVF cycles, fertility medications, travel for treatment and diagnostic testing, and must be for goods and services provided entirely within Canada.
